● Exhibition catalog Dare to Know: Forms and Manifestations of the Enlightenment in Moravia

The book catalog accompanies an exhibition on the phenomena of the Moravian Enlightenment. The catalog focuses on the spread of Enlightenment ideals in Moravia between 1740 and 1820 and is a collection of exhibits from the Moravian Library.

The chosen font refers to the era of the young French Republic during the Napoleonic period, when classicist antiqua replaced older font types and spread throughout Europe along with the reforms of the Enlightenment. The catalog is complemented by pen drawings by Václav Magid, which ironically place the most important figures of Enlightenment philosophy in the setting of Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey. In it, under the influence of a mysterious black monolith, early humans acquire new forms of thinking and later learn to use tools and weapons.
