● Promotional strategy for the Year of Enlightened Nobility

The Year of Enlightened Nobility was implemented as part of the In the Footsteps of Noble Families project, which is organized annually by the National Heritage Institute in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic.

For the visual identity, we used portraits of prominent aristocrats of the Habsburg Monarchy from the second half of the 18th century. We selected them with regard to the attributes of the Enlightenment as various media of modernization reforms. The title of the event is composed of a custom font inspired by Romain du Roi — a royal Latin script created in France in 1692 at the request of Louis XIV for the needs of the royal printing house. The font emphasizes verticality and increased contrast between thick and thin strokes, as this design subsequently influenced the world-famous fonts of Pierre Simon Fournier and John Baskerville in the 18th century, which in turn led to the final rational fonts of Bodoni and Didot. The logotype is complemented by motifs taken from contemporary encyclopedias and academic publications.
